When I first started writing music in a studio, I made a lot of mistakes and wasted a lot of money on studio time. And now that I’ve helped others do it, I see a lot of people have a tendency to make the same mistakes. So let me share with you the top 4 mistakes and how to avoid them:
Step 3: Schedule a minimum of 2 hours to record your song in the studio
At this step you’re likely to notice that you may get frustrated finding the right words you want to use to match your beat. So, what you need to do is work with your engineer to choose words that make sense, have the right tone, and flow with the sounds correctly.
I still remember the first time I was scheduling studio time and trying to figure out how much time it would take to finish one song. I was scheduling studio time just to write music and wasn’t leaving any time to record or mix my music during one session. I would come to the studio with no music written, spend hours listening to different beats, finally get around to writing, and by the time my 2 hour session was finished, I hadn’t finished one song.
Now I know to come prepared with my music already written, practiced and memorized prior to scheduling my recording session. That way if I do need some time to create with the engineer I have more time to let our creative juices flow and save time to mix the song after recording.
